Green Cheek Conure Care

Nutrition & Treats

At JP’s Feathered Friends, our conures enjoy a carefully selected diet to support their energy, feather health, and overall happiness. We feed them:

Cage Setup & Safety

Conures are playful and active, and their environment should reflect that. While our flock has a large communal cage, single conures can thrive in smaller setups with room to spread their wings. We recommend:

  • Minimum dimensions: 83.5"L x 45.5"W x 45.8"H
  • Bar spacing: Less than 5/8" to avoid escapes or injury
  • Daily out-of-cage time for exercise and socialization
  • Multiple perch types, ladders, and enrichment zones
  • NO rope toys or anything where toes could get tangled

Timmy, one of our flock members, suffered an injury due to a rope toy—please learn from our story and prioritize safety-first play options.

Mental Stimulation

Conures are curious and clever! Boredom can lead to behavioral issues, so we encourage mental stimulation through:

  • TV time with Planet Earth, Curious George, and Peep and the Big Wide World
  • Rotation of bird-safe toys to keep playtime exciting
  • Training and interaction through clicker games or step-up practice
  • Daily conversation and music exposure

Our birds even have a bedtime routine! They snuggle into their perches listening to a sweet bedtime episode from Peep and the Big Wide World.
